2 Nail Biters, 2 Decisive Efforts Tell Saturday's Tale

Vermont and Boston University continued to roll Saturday, each extending their respective win streaks with decisive efforts.

The Catamounts, winners of 7 straight, outscored New Hampshire 52-14 in the second frame and shot 69 percent (20-of-29) from the floor. Seniors Mike Trimboli and Colin McIntosh each scored 16, while Marqus Blakely had 13 on perfect 6-of-6 shooting. Tyrone Conley was the lone Wildcat in double figures with 10 points. Radar Onguetou added 9 points and 10 rebounds. Vermont, which is 16-6 overall and 7-2 in America East, will learn Monday if it is one of the 26 teams tabbed for an ESPNU BracketBusters TV game. The Catamounts are one of four America East teams named to the pool at the beginning of the season.

The Terriers extended their win streak to five and moved to 6-2 in conference play with a 72-47 victory at Hartford. John Holland led all scorers with 21 points, while Corey Lowe had an outstanding all-around game with 10 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. Morgan Sabia had 12 points for the Hawks, who have now dropped 6 straight.

Maine led for much of the way at Binghamton, but the Bearcats rallied from 14 down in the second half to win 83-78 in front of record crowd of 4,923 at the Events Center. D.J. Rivera scored 23 points on 10-of-15 shooting, while Malik Alvin added 20. Mark Socoby led five Black Bears in double figures with 17 points. Troy Barnies added 13 off the bench on 6-of-8 shooting.

On Long Island, Chris Martin sank two free throws with 18 seconds left to give Stony Brook a 56-55 victory over UMBC. Muhammad El-Amin led the Seawolves with 15 points and Chris Martin provided 10 off the bench. Darryl Proctor continued his strong stretch with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Justin Fry had his second double-double in as many days with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
